Marketing Lead - Smartphones

About the role

M-KOPA, a Kenyan fintech that has unlocked more than $2 billion in credit for 7 million customers across Africa, is hiring a Marketing Lead for its smartphone business in Nairobi. The role covers the full marketing arc, from brief to launch to sales uplift, combining above-the-line, in-store, social, influencer, partnership and dealer channels under one leader. Performance is judged on conversion, sales uplift and customer impact.

Key responsibilities

• Write campaign briefs, localise the brand and run launches from content packs and retail activation plans through to post-campaign review.
• Direct social channels and the WhatsApp channel, steer influencer campaigns from sourcing to posting, and deliver partnerships, promotions and dealer and van branding.
• Run SMS-based customer research and quarterly retail surveys, and track spend against sales uplift and conversion.
• Manage marketing requests through to stakeholder sign-off, handle procurement and stock of marketing materials and devices, and trigger replenishment.
• Shape how the wider Kenya team works, improving processes and sharing product knowledge.

Required profile

• Proven track record leading integrated ATL and BTL campaigns end to end, with accountability for budget and measurable sales uplift.
• Experience directing agencies, influencer programmes and brand partnerships, with a disciplined content and social calendar.
• Ability to turn performance data and customer research into decisions.
• Comfort in dealer-network and retail environments, and the judgement to adapt campaigns to local contexts.
• Degree in marketing or communications welcome, though shipped results matter more.

The role is broad, moving from strategy with leadership to purchase orders in the same day. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and shortlisting and interviews happen at any stage.
