Maternal and Newborn Health Coordinator - Samburu

About the role

The Kenya Red Cross Society is seeking a dedicated Maternal and Newborn Health Coordinator to lead and strengthen health services in the Samburu area. This full‑time position will focus on improving maternal, newborn and child health outcomes within a humanitarian and hard‑to‑reach context.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and support the implementation of maternal and newborn health (MNH) programmes at health facilities.
• Lead quality‑improvement initiatives, mentorship, and capacity‑building activities for health staff.
• Strengthen emergency obstetric and newborn care (EmONC), MPDSR, and referral systems.
• Collaborate with county health authorities to align interventions with local health system priorities.
• Monitor programme performance, collect data, and produce regular reports for stakeholders.

Required profile

• Diploma in Clinical Medicine or Nursing from a recognized institution.
• Registered and licensed by the relevant Kenyan professional regulatory body.
• Minimum three (3) years of experience in maternal and newborn health, RMNCAH, or hospital/health‑facility service delivery.
• Demonstrated experience in programme implementation, quality improvement, mentorship, or facility‑based coordination.
• Understanding of county health systems and experience in ASAL, humanitarian, emergency or hard‑to‑reach settings is an advantage.
