Mechanical Engineer Fellow – Army Fellows Program

About the role

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is seeking recent Mechanical Engineering graduates for a two‑year Army Fellows Program. Fellows receive structured training, mentorship, and hands‑on experience across civil works, military construction, environmental, and emergency‑management projects.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the design, construction, and repair of mechanical devices, equipment, and systems using established specifications.
• Perform engineering calculations, technical studies, and evaluations following recognized engineering principles.
• Support project managers and multidisciplinary teams in delivering complex infrastructure projects.
• Review design documents, computations, and submittals for mechanical engineering projects.
• Monitor testing of mechanical systems and verify compliance with contracts and specifications.
• Identify engineering problems, recommend corrective actions, and participate in site inspections and construction oversight.
• Analyze data, prepare recommendations for project improvements, and ensure compliance with standards, environmental regulations, and safety requirements.
• Collaborate with federal, state, local, and industry partners to support project delivery.

Required profile

• Recent graduate (B.S. or M.S.) in Mechanical Engineering.
• Highly motivated and eager to develop a career in public‑service infrastructure.
• Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.
• Willingness to rotate through multiple functional areas and travel for site visits.
