Mechanical Technician

About the role

The Mechanical Technician will support the maintenance department of Persea Oils & Orchards by ensuring all plant equipment operates reliably and safely. You will develop and execute inspection programmes, manage spare‑part inventories and contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop weekly, monthly and annual inspection and maintenance schedules based on manufacturers’ specifications.
• Maintain availability of tools, equipment and spare‑parts, and trigger re‑orders when needed.
• Execute preventive maintenance on boilers, air compressors, pumps, pneumatic controls and sensors.
• Assist with welding and pipe‑fabrication tasks to support production quality.
• Promote continuous‑improvement by researching waste‑reduction ideas and supporting their implementation.
• Train new team members on work instructions and safety procedures.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with production, plumbing and electrical teams.
• Participate in performance‑management processes to align expectations and improve outcomes.
• Lead by example to maintain a safe, healthy work environment and enforce proper PPE use.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum five years of experience in manufacturing maintenance.
• Automotive experience is an advantage.
• Ability to read, interpret and follow technical work instructions.
• Creative thinker who can work under pressure.
• Strong attention to detail and good written and verbal communication skills.
• Team player with good interpersonal skills and readiness to start immediately.
