Medical Assistant I – Clinical Support Role

About the role

The Medical Assistant I provides essential clinical support in a busy clinic setting. Responsibilities include preparing exam rooms, taking vital signs, assisting providers during procedures, and handling administrative tasks such as scheduling and billing. The role also involves maintaining equipment, inventory, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and break down exam rooms, stock supplies, and sterilize instruments.
• Document patient information, vital signs, and chief complaints.
• Assist providers with examinations, minor procedures, and specimen collection.
• Perform basic lab tests (UA/UPT, EKG, HGB) and administer medications/vaccines as ordered.
• Maintain accurate records of vaccine and supply usage, including temperature logs.
• Handle patient communications, appointment scheduling, and medical billing tasks.
• Travel to other clinic locations to provide coverage as needed.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and internal policies.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• One year of medical assistant experience preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 20 lb and stand or walk for 7‑8 hours per day.
• Strong attendance record and punctuality.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Experience using Electronic Health Record systems such as IMS, EPIC, and Dentrix.
