Regional Coordinator – Coast Region

About the role

The Fred Hollows Foundation is seeking a Regional Coordinator to lead its integrated eye health programme across Kenya’s Coast Region. Based in Mombasa, you will manage a multidisciplinary team, oversee project delivery, and work closely with county governments and partner eye hospitals to reduce avoidable blindness.

Key responsibilities

• Lead implementation of the Foundation’s eye health programme in Mombasa, Taita Taveta, Kilifi and Kwale counties, ensuring seamless reporting, M&E and partner engagement.
• Coordinate work plans, fund transfers and budget alignment, holding partners accountable to project targets.
• Represent the Foundation with county health departments, build partnerships at executive, technical and community levels, and advocate for eye health as a priority.
• Plan regional activities, provide technical and operational support, manage delegated budgets and procurement within agreed thresholds.
• Develop tools to track results, support partners in using surgical outcomes data for quality improvement, and promote equitable access for women, people with disabilities and other marginalised groups.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, International Development or Health Systems.
• 5–6 years’ experience managing health programmes in an INGO context, including donor‑funded projects.
• Proven ability to build and maintain productive relationships with governments, NGOs and private sector partners.
• Experience with devolved health systems and working with county governments, preferably in Kenya’s coastal counties.
• Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to diverse audiences.
