Medical Officer – Clinical Operations

About the role

Jacaranda Maternity is expanding its clinical team in Nairobi and seeks a qualified Medical Officer to deliver high‑quality, patient‑centred maternity care. Reporting to the Resident Consultant Obstetrician‑Gynaecologist, you will work in a fast‑moving, startup‑style environment focused on improving maternal and newborn health across East Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Provide appropriate medical and surgical care to in‑patient and out‑patient clients.
• Manage reproductive health cases, including admissions, investigations and treatment.
• Examine patients, diagnose conditions and maintain accurate clinical records.
• Coordinate care plans with patients and multidisciplinary team members.
• Handle emergency cases in both inpatient and outpatient settings and ensure effective referrals.
• Maintain strong interpersonal relationships with staff and patients to ensure a positive customer experience.

Required profile

• Degree in Medicine and Surgery from a recognised university.
• Minimum 2 years experience as a licensed Medical Officer in a busy maternity institution.
• Valid practising licence from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
• Master’s degree is an advantage.
• Experience in neonatal/paediatric or reproductive health is a plus.
• Strong communication, analytical reasoning and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse team and take initiative to solve problems.

Required skills

• Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
