Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning Associate

About the role

Inkomoko is seeking a Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) Associate to lead data collection and quality assurance for its programmes in Dadaab and Garissa, Kenya. Reporting to the MEL Manager, the associate will support the implementation of surveys, focus groups and routine monitoring activities to generate high‑quality data for impact measurement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead local data collection and conduct data quality checks for Dadaab & Garissa, coordinating with program and MEL teams.
• Collaborate with the data team to refine qualitative and quantitative data collection tools.
• Plan and execute data collection processes, including surveys and focus group discussions with diverse client groups.
• Communicate data collection plans to clients, organise logistics and ensure successful implementation.
• Update project monitoring plans and track indicators across projects.
• Test survey materials, incorporate feedback and ensure compliance with MEL standard operating procedures.
• Recruit, train and supervise enumerators or internal staff, ensuring adherence to interview protocols.
• Supervise data collection in English via phone or digital tools, and lead focus group discussions while capturing insights.

Required profile

• Based in Nairobi, Kenya and able to travel to project sites.
• Proficient in English for data collection and stakeholder communication.
• Experience leading surveys, focus groups or similar data collection activities.
