About the role
The Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) Manager will lead the design and implementation of MEL frameworks for Greenpeace’s programmes in Africa. Reporting to senior management, the role ensures data‑driven decision‑making, quality assurance, and compliance with donor requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Design and operationalise MEL frameworks aligned with organisational strategy.
- Develop indicators, targets, and data‑collection plans for all programmes and geographic locations.
- Oversee data analysis, dashboard creation, and regular management reporting.
- Lead donor reporting, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
- Mentor and manage MEL staff, fostering a culture of learning and evidence‑based practice.
- Coordinate training on data quality and MEL processes for country offices.
- Document and disseminate programme learnings to inform adaptive management.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Monitoring & Evaluation, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Statistics, Data Science, International Relations, Research Methods or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 5‑8 years of progressive experience in MEL, with at least 3 years in African NGOs or advocacy organisations.
- Proven leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong understanding of African political, environmental and social contexts.
