Multimedia & Graphic Design Consultant

About the role

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking a Multimedia and Graphic Design Consultant to strengthen communications for the Global Fund for Coral Reefs (GFCR). Based in Nairobi, the consultant will work with the Marine and Coastal Ecosystem Unit to create visual and multimedia content that supports advocacy, partner engagement, and resource mobilisation.

Key responsibilities

• Design and produce high‑quality graphics, layouts, and visual assets in line with GFCR and partner brand guidelines.
• Create and edit photo and video materials, including case‑study videos, interviews, and b‑roll footage.
• Maintain and update interactive content for the GFCR website and social media platforms.
• Develop a branding toolkit that includes logos for GFCR and its partners.
• Format and layout reports, publications, presentations, and factsheets for the Marine and Freshwater Branch.
• Co‑draft and secure placement of at least five articles or op‑eds across media outlets.
• Produce multimedia vignettes and other communications products related to UNEP’s marine and coastal ecosystem work.

Required profile

• Proven experience in graphic design and multimedia production, preferably in an international or environmental context.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating visual consistency across diverse outputs.
• Excellent written communication skills in English.
• Ability to work under supervision of the Marine and Coastal Ecosystem Unit Chief and Programme Management Officer.
