National Driver

About the role

The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Nairobi is seeking a National Driver on a three‑month consultancy basis. The role involves transporting staff, parcels and official documents safely and efficiently while supporting the Country Office Representative and other senior officials.

Key responsibilities

• Drive office vehicles for the transport of authorized personnel, adhering to protocol during official meetings and missions.
• Deliver parcels, documents and other items between the UN office and ministries, embassies, permanent missions and other institutions.
• Make minor purchases, collect urgent supplies from local vendors and handle customs formalities for goods.
• Receive officials at the airport and assist with immigration and customs procedures.
• Maintain vehicles daily – check oil, water, battery, brakes, perform minor repairs and keep the vehicle clean.
• Keep accurate logs of trips, mileage, fuel consumption and maintenance activities.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and follow accident‑reporting procedures.
• Assist with data collection, preparation of reports, visualisations and updating informational material when not driving.
• Support mail distribution, store maintenance and other ad‑hoc tasks as assigned.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s licence and driver training.
• Minimum three years of progressive experience as a driver with a clean safety record.
• Experience driving a variety of vehicles, including vans and other UN‑specified models.
• Ability to handle customs regulations and perform minor vehicle repairs.
