National Procurement Officer – Nairobi

About the role

Church World Service is seeking a National Procurement Officer to lead the acquisition of goods and services for its programs in Kenya. The role focuses on ensuring cost‑effective, transparent procurement in line with donor and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Support strategic planning and annual budgeting with cost estimates.
• Procure goods and services through COUPA, ensuring compliance with CWS policies, Cooperative Agreements and 2CFR200.
• Coordinate vendor pre‑qualification, registration, and performance monitoring.
• Issue purchase orders, review invoices, and verify supporting documents (GRN, delivery note, LPO) before finance submission.
• Prepare VAT and duty exemption requests via IPMIS and manage bid analysis, RFP reports, and vendor account reconciliations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Public Administration, Procurement or related field (Diploma in Purchasing preferred).
• Minimum 4 years of procurement, sourcing, tendering, contract negotiation and vendor management experience.
• Experience with NGOs or donor‑funded projects is an advantage.
• Strong written and verbal English communication, high attention to detail and ability to work independently.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics and COUPA.
• Advanced use of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Familiarity with IPMIS for exemption requests.
