Nursing Officer Grade C/D

About the role

Mama Ngina University College, a constituent college of Kenyatta University, is recruiting a Nursing Officer Grade C/D for its Health Unit. The officer works under a Senior Officer, provides nursing and public health services within the college and assists in the clinical supervision of nursing students.

Key responsibilities

• Perform client assessments using recognized nursing frameworks to identify patient problems and provide patient-centered care.
• Provide nursing interventions in line with goals and nursing diagnoses, and monitor prognosis through observation and clinical assessments.
• Evaluate client outcomes to decide whether treatment continues or referral to another facility is needed.
• Prepare and maintain reports on patient care and progress to ensure continuity of care.
• Take part in community outreach such as medical camps and school health programmes, and in events such as Nurses' Week.
• Administer immunizations in line with the Ministry of Health's National Immunization Policy Guidelines.
• Assist in planning clinical rotations for nursing students and supervise them in clinical placements.
• Demonstrate nursing procedures in the skills laboratory.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing or equivalent from a recognized university.
• Registered with the Nursing Council of Kenya with a valid practicing license.
• At least three years of clinical experience in a recognized clinical setting.
• Willingness to work odd hours when necessary.
• Post-basic training in Critical Care, Counseling Psychology, Mental Health or a related area is an added advantage.

Required skills

• Good communication, analytical and report writing skills.
• Working knowledge of relevant computer applications.
• Team player with a record of professionalism and integrity.
