Nutrition Intern - First 1,000 Days Program

About the role

Helen Keller Intl is recruiting two Nutrition Interns in Baringo and Kilifi counties to support its First 1,000 Days nutrition interventions. The intern works under the guidance of the Officer, Nutrition, helps ensure quality project implementation, monitors and documents progress and achievements, and strengthens coordination with county and sub-county health management teams and other stakeholders. The position is full-time, reports to the Officer, Nutrition and sits in the Programs unit.

Key responsibilities

• Develop monthly activity workplans in liaison with the Officer, Nutrition and track progress regularly
• Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly and semi-annual reports, and integrate project plans into the County health and nutrition Annual Work Plans
• Take part in county planning and coordination meetings
• Track project performance, document achievements and human-interest stories, and conduct day-to-day monitoring with feedback to improve performance
• Plan and run project data reviews, document findings and recommendations and work with the counties to implement agreed actions
• Organize coordination forums with external and internal stakeholders, including technical working groups, and collaborate with county and sub-county health management teams

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in nutrition, public health or equivalent
• Excellent written and spoken English and Swahili
• Good knowledge of health and nutrition programs, policies and strategies in Kenya
• Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time, mainly domestically within Kenya to program sites, health offices and events
