Officer, Training & Development (AWARD)

About the role

The Officer, Training & Development will coordinate AWARD training activities for fellowship programmes and partner institutions, ensuring high‑quality curriculum design, delivery and knowledge management. The role is based on‑site in Nairobi and supports both in‑person and virtual learning environments.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, schedule and execute courses according to the AWARD workplan, preparing materials that meet training standards.
• Provide technical support for virtual events, configuring breakout rooms, polls, captions and recordings.
• Design and develop learning modules that blend synchronous and asynchronous components, incorporating inclusive and accessible practices.
• Manage trainer contracts, onboarding, budgets and compliance with HR, procurement and donor requirements.
• Maintain the learning portal and knowledge repository, ensuring resources are organized, up‑to‑date and easily accessible.
• Collect and analyse participant feedback, generate reports and drive continuous improvement of curricula.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Education, Training & Development or a related field.
• At least 5 years of progressive experience in capacity development and training programme management, preferably in an international NGO.
• Professional certification in virtual facilitation or e‑learning instructional design.

Required skills

• Learning Management System (LMS) administration.
• Virtual facilitation platforms and tools (breakout rooms, polls, captions).
• E‑learning instructional design and curriculum development for blended learning.
• Digital learning technologies and online event support.
