Operations Manager - Import/Export & Logistics

About the role

A global animal nutrition and agribusiness company is looking for an Operations Manager based in Nairobi (Westlands). Reporting to the Country Manager and with functional reporting to the East Africa operations manager, the role coordinates and continuously improves day-to-day operations, including logistics, documentation, warehouse and supply-chain processes, ensuring efficiency, quality and compliance with local regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily operations, including shipment coordination, documentation and warehouse or distribution workflows
• Ensure shipment documents are complete and accurate and that shipments comply with the receiving country's regulations
• Maintain agreed service levels, cost targets and quality standards, and follow standard operating procedures adapted to local needs
• Ensure compliance with customs procedures, Incoterms, certificates of origin and import/export licences
• Maintain accurate records in internal data and ERP systems
• Coordinate local staff, contractors and third-party providers such as carriers, forwarders, warehouses and customs agents
• Oversee warehouse operations, inventory accuracy, dispatch readiness, inventory shrink control and HSE standards
• Manage clearing agents, port and border customs procedures and transit logistics
• Coordinate maintenance of production and warehouse equipment and monitor performance, proposing improvements

Required profile

• 3-5 years' experience in operations, import/export, logistics, shipping or supply chain
• Strong practical experience with sea freight, shipping, customs clearance and import operations
• Experience coordinating warehousing and third-party logistics providers
• Experience managing operations across multiple locations or countries is an advantage
• Comfortable coordinating multiple stakeholders and resolving issues independently
