Part‑Time Employment Specialist – Supported Employment

About the role

The Employment Specialist supports individuals with disabilities in finding and keeping competitive jobs. This part‑time position blends job development, placement, and ongoing on‑the‑job coaching to match each person’s skills and interests.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and pursue employment opportunities that align with each client’s abilities and goals.
• Conduct pre‑employment and employment assessments, interview preparation, and job discovery activities.
• Provide on‑the‑job training, coaching, and regular follow‑up to ensure successful job retention.
• Develop and maintain relationships with employers, clarifying duties, safety information, and facilitating communication.
• Explain how earned income may affect benefits such as SSI or Medicaid and guide clients on reporting earnings.
• Maintain accurate case notes, reports, and documentation to meet OPWDD and ACCES‑VR standards.
• Occasionally transport clients to assessments or work sites and present a professional image to the business community.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Experience serving individuals with disabilities is preferred.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities.
• Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to lift 50 lb independently.
• Flexibility to work varied hours to meet client needs.
