Pastry Commis – Westlands, Kenya

About the role

Accor is seeking a motivated Pastry Commis to join its kitchen team in Westlands. You will work under the guidance of the Pastry Chef to produce a wide range of high‑quality pastries, desserts and baked goods for a premium hotel environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and produce pastries, breads, cakes, cookies and other baked items following established recipes and presentation standards.
• Assist in creating pastry components such as creams, mousses, fillings, icings, glazes and sauces.
• Set up and maintain a well‑organized pastry mise‑en‑place, ensuring all ingredients and tools are ready for service.
• Label, date and store finished products in compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations.
• Monitor ingredient freshness, product quality and consistency, and support waste‑reduction efforts.
• Support senior pastry chefs during busy service periods, buffet setups and special events.
• Maintain cleanliness of workstations, equipment and storage areas at all times.

Required profile

• Diploma or Degree in Culinary Arts or Hospitality.
• 3–5 years of hands‑on kitchen experience, preferably in a 5‑star or premium hotel.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong teamwork, communication and problem‑solving abilities.
