Payroll Systems Analyst

About the role

Wave is seeking a Payroll Systems Analyst to streamline payroll operations and build tools that connect payroll to the rest of the business. You will act as a bridge between Payroll, People and Finance teams, designing processes and building solutions for multi‑country payroll, statutory compliance and multiple currencies.

Key responsibilities

• Map current payroll processes across markets, identify manual effort and risk, and define global standards and RACI matrices.
• Design, build, test and roll out an internal payroll‑to‑finance reconciliation tool, automating data ingestion and exception reporting.
• Support stabilization of HRIS‑to‑payroll data flows after the new HRIS go‑live, ensuring accurate hires, changes and terminations.
• Analyze payroll workflows, recommend improvements, and coordinate testing of legislative updates.
• Own payroll data quality, conduct regular audits, and develop reporting dashboards for HR and Finance.

Required profile

• Fluent in English and French.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, Information Systems or related field.
• 3+ years experience in HRIS, payroll operations or payroll accounting in a multi‑country organization.
• Hands‑on experience reconciling payroll to the general ledger and working with third‑party payroll providers.
• Proven ability to document, standardize and improve processes.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel / Google Sheets.
• Data management, analysis and reporting.
• Business Intelligence tools such as Power BI, Looker or Sigma.
• Scripting or low‑code automation platforms (Apps Script, Workato, Zapier).
• Experience with enterprise HRIS platforms (e.g., Workday).
