Powder Coating Line Operator

About the role

Brites Management Services is hiring a full-time Powder Coating Line Operator based in Athi River. The role covers running the powder coating line, preparing metal surfaces, applying electrostatic powder coating, inspecting finished parts and keeping the equipment and workplace in good order.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and assist in running the powder coating line, monitoring coating activities and adjusting application settings to product requirements.
• Load, position and unload metal components on the line, ensuring proper handling and coverage.
• Prepare metal surfaces by cleaning, degreasing and masking, then apply electrostatic powder coating to the specified thickness, colour and finish.
• Cure coated products in the oven using the prescribed settings, temperatures and times.
• Inspect finished products for uniform coverage, colour consistency, surface smoothness and finish quality, and report defects such as pinholes, contamination, peeling and orange peel.
• Check spray guns, powder delivery systems, curing ovens and conveyors, clean spray equipment, filters and work areas, and report faults and production issues to the supervisor.
• Follow safety procedures when handling powders and working near curing ovens, use PPE, and help the team meet daily targets while minimising wastage, rework and downtime.

Required profile

• Proven practical experience in electrostatic powder coating, preferably in a metal fabrication or manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of surface preparation, powder application, curing processes and coating quality inspection.
• Familiarity with powder coating equipment, workshop safety procedures and handling of coating materials.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical production instructions.
• Good teamwork, time management, housekeeping and workplace safety practices.
