Principal Statistical Programmer

About the role

ICON is seeking a Principal Statistical Programmer to join its sponsor‑dedicated team in Kenya. You will lead statistical programming efforts, develop and validate R‑based programs, and ensure high‑quality clinical trial data analysis that supports regulatory submissions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and validate R programs for statistical analysis, reporting, and generation of CDISC‑compliant SDTM and ADaM datasets of low to moderate complexity.
• Lead multiple statistical programming teams to produce listings, tables, figures, and other statistical outputs.
• Collaborate with biostatisticians to define analysis plans and statistical methods.
• Perform quality control and validation of statistical outputs to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance.
• Assist in preparing statistical reports, presentations, and publications for regulatory submissions.
• Identify process improvements, automation opportunities, and enhance R‑based analytical workflows.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Life Sciences, or a related quantitative field.
• 8+ years of statistical programming experience in clinical research, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical environments.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with keen attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team.

Required skills

• Proficiency in R programming for clinical trial data analysis and reporting.
• Knowledge of CDISC standards, including SDTM and ADaM.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry guidance for statistical programming.
