About the role
Our client, a leading dental healthcare provider in Nairobi, is looking for a dynamic Procurement Officer to manage the acquisition of goods and services for the hospital. The role ensures timely, cost‑effective procurement while maintaining compliance with regulations and supporting operational excellence.
Key responsibilities
- Implement procurement strategies aligned with organisational goals and financial targets.
- Review and improve procurement processes to adapt to changing business needs.
- Identify cost‑saving opportunities without compromising quality.
- Source, evaluate, pre‑qualify and manage suppliers and service providers.
- Negotiate pricing, contract terms and service level agreements.
- Maintain strong supplier relationships through framework agreements.
- Conduct regular supplier performance reviews and recommend improvements.
- Prepare and process purchase orders accurately and efficiently.
- Ensure timely delivery of goods and services to support hospital operations.
- Monitor inventory‑related procurement requirements to avoid stock shortages.
- Support drafting, reviewing, executing and renewing procurement contracts.
- Ensure compliance with laws, regulations and internal policies.
- Implement procurement controls to minimise operational and compliance risks.
- Prepare reports on cost savings, supplier performance and procurement efficiency.
- Analyse procurement data to aid strategic decision‑making.
- Collaborate with department heads to understand and fulfil procurement needs.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Studies or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of procurement experience in a hospital or healthcare setting.
- Professional procurement certification (e.g., MCIPS) is mandatory.
- Strong negotiation, supplier relationship and contract management abilities.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
Required skills
- Proficiency in procurement systems.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
