Procurement Officer

About the role

Haco's Procurement Officer keeps the supply chain running, sourcing materials, packaging and services on time and at the right cost while keeping supplier relationships strong. It is a hands-on, high-volume operational role supporting the Procurement & Supply Chain function during a period of sustained growth, reporting to the Senior Procurement Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Convert purchase requisitions into purchase orders accurately and within agreed turnaround times, following up to prevent approval delays
• Monitor supplier delivery lead times and escalate early to prevent production delays and stock-outs
• Coordinate with suppliers and service providers on order confirmations, delivery schedules and accounts, keeping accurate supplier records
• Prepare and track import and clearance documentation with clearing agents to avoid delays and demurrage
• Check supplier invoices, Goods Receipt Notes and supporting documents so payments can be processed smoothly
• Work with Finance on records of financial commitments and accruals
• Help secure raw material availability for new product development and supply continuity
• Contribute clean, timely data to monthly procurement reporting (spend, stock, supplier performance)
• Maintain audit-ready documentation following Haco's procurement policy and ethical sourcing standards

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Business or a related field
• Minimum 3-5 years of procurement experience, preferably in FMCG or manufacturing
• Solid understanding of category management, contract administration and supplier performance management
• Strong numerical skills for negotiation, cost breakdown and benchmarking
• Understanding of procurement policies, ethics and audit readiness
• Awareness of supplier ESG standards and Haco's sustainability agenda
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and show potential to become a supply chain leader

Required skills

• Working knowledge of ERP systems (SAP or Sage X3) and MS Excel (pivot tables, spend dashboards)
• KISM or CIPS Level 4+ membership, or another recognized procurement and supply chain certification, is an added advantage
