Production Supervisor - Food Manufacturing

About the role

Brites Management Services is hiring a full-time Production Supervisor for its food manufacturing business in Kikuyu. The supervisor oversees daily production operations, ensures products meet quality and food safety standards, leads the production team and keeps production running efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily production activities so targets are met, and monitor schedules, labour, machinery and raw materials.
• Make sure products follow approved specifications and quality standards, and identify and fix production bottlenecks.
• Monitor equipment performance and work with the maintenance team to minimise downtime.
• Ensure food safety standards, GMP and company quality procedures are followed, and carry out routine inspections of processes and finished products.
• Keep production records accurate and on time, and minimise defects, wastage and rework.
• Supervise and motivate production staff, allocate duties per shift, train new employees and run toolbox talks.
• Watch raw materials, packaging and supplies, coordinate with warehouse and procurement, and report shortages.
• Enforce health and safety rules, make sure staff wear PPE, and report accidents and safety concerns.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Industrial Chemistry, Manufacturing or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in a food manufacturing environment.
• Experience producing tomato paste, sauces, jams or similar processed foods is highly preferred.
• Experience supervising production teams is an added advantage.
• Strong leadership and people management skills, good attention to detail and knowledge of food manufacturing processes.

Required skills

• Good understanding of food manufacturing processes and production planning.
• Knowledge of GMP, HACCP principles and food safety standards.
