Professor – School of Law

About the role

Kenyatta University is seeking a qualified and dedicated Professor for its School of Law to lead teaching, research and academic service at its Nairobi campus.

Key responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and postgraduate law courses with high‑quality instruction.
• Supervise Masters and PhD research projects, guiding students to successful completion.
• Conduct scholarly research and publish at least four articles in refereed journals.
• Apply for and manage research grants individually or as part of a team.
• Participate actively in departmental meetings, committees and academic events.
• Represent the university at conferences, seminars and workshops.

Required profile

• PhD in Law from a recognized university.
• Second Class Honours (or equivalent) in LLB.
• Minimum 12 years of university teaching experience, including at least 5 years as a full‑time Associate Professor.
• Supervised at least four Masters and two PhD students since appointment as Associate Professor.
• Authored at least four refereed journal articles during that period.
• Demonstrated success in obtaining research grants.
• Active involvement in departmental activities and delivery of high‑quality teaching.
• Regular attendance and contribution to academic conferences, seminars or workshops.
