Programme Officer – Immigration & Border Governance (P2)

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Programme Officer to support the Regional Counter‑Smuggling Programme (RCSP) in Kenya. Working under the Deputy Regional Director for Operations and the Senior Programme Manager (IBG), the officer will help implement activities that strengthen border management and combat migrant smuggling across Ethiopia, Kenya, and Somalia.

Key responsibilities

• Support overall implementation of the RCSP, ensuring compliance with IOM policies, donor requirements, timelines and deliverables.
• Coordinate the work of programme staff, consultants, implementing partners and service providers.
• Maintain and strengthen partnerships with government entities, donors, UN agencies and civil society.
• Draft progress reports and ensure information exchange between IOM, donors and other stakeholders.
• Provide technical support for analysing migration trends and identifying funding opportunities.
• Contribute to donor priority identification, develop project proposals and explore new programme initiatives.
• Facilitate information management through updates, press releases and visibility materials.
• Assist in contextual analysis to inform programme design and implementation.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in supporting implementation of migration‑related programmes and coordinating multi‑stakeholder activities.
• Ability to work closely with regional and headquarters units and to manage reporting requirements.
• Strong analytical skills for migration trend analysis and donor research.
