Programme Specialist – Children’s Food Practices & Youth Engagement (Remote)

About the role

The Programme Specialist will provide strategic leadership and technical direction for UNICEF’s Food Systems for Children agenda, focusing on children’s food practices and youth engagement. Working under the Senior Adviser, Food Systems for Children, the role is fully remote and contributes to global policy, programme design and implementation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of strategies to improve children’s food practices and strengthen youth engagement across UNICEF programmes.
• Provide technical guidance to Country Offices, Regional Offices and partners through the Centre of Excellence network.
• Coordinate cross‑sectoral initiatives, monitor progress and ensure alignment with UNICEF’s strategic plan.
• Support evidence‑based policy development, advocacy and knowledge sharing on food systems for children.
• Oversee the design, rollout and evaluation of youth‑led interventions such as Fix My Food.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in nutrition, public health, agriculture, development studies or a related field.
• Several years of professional experience in food systems, child nutrition or programme management in an international development context.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with multi‑disciplinary teams and external partners.
• Excellent analytical, communication and reporting skills.
