Project Director – Nairobi, Kenya

About the role

ChildFund is seeking a Project Director to lead a two‑year U.S. Government‑funded initiative in Kenya. The role provides strategic and operational leadership to protect vulnerable children, expand high‑quality EdTech access, strengthen digital safety, and improve government systems against child labour and online exploitation.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall strategic direction and day‑to‑day operational oversight for the project.
• Manage partnerships with government agencies, private‑sector partners, civil‑society organisations and the donor.
• Supervise project staff, ensuring high‑quality implementation and compliance with budgetary and reporting requirements.
• Lead efforts to expand access to education technology, promote market‑relevant skills development, and enhance digital safety measures.
• Serve as the primary liaison with government counterparts and other key stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, international development, public policy or a related field (master’s preferred).
• Significant experience managing large‑scale development projects, preferably with a focus on child protection, education technology, or digital safety.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex stakeholder relationships.
• Current residence and work authorization in Kenya and ability to obtain a U.S. travel visa.
