Project Finance Officer

About the role

The Project Finance Officer will provide dedicated finance and accounting support for the “Accelerating Adaptation Action Through Faith‑Led Advocacy in Africa” project. The role ensures accurate project accounting, monitors expenditure against the budget, and guarantees compliance with donor and ACT Alliance requirements. The officer will work closely with project and finance colleagues to monitor expenditure, ensure compliance and support effective financial management throughout the project cycle.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate project financial records, accounting codes and supporting documentation in line with donor requirements and ACT Alliance procedures.
• Monitor project expenditure against the approved donor budget, identify variances and emerging risks, and provide timely analysis to project management.
• Review project expenditures to ensure costs are eligible, reasonable, properly authorised and documented according to donor rules.
• Prepare timely and accurate financial information and donor financial reports, ensuring consistency between accounting records, budgets and reported expenditure.
• Review invoices, contracts and payment documentation, ensuring proper coding and allocation to the project.
• Collaborate with project, programme and finance colleagues to strengthen quality, accountability, compliance and learning.
• Support planning, monitoring, reporting, learning and risk management processes for the project and the Secretariat.
