Project Officer – Nutrition

About the role

The Project Officer – Nutrition will implement and monitor nutrition activities within emergency programmes in Lodwar, ensuring quality delivery in line with budgets and donor requirements. The role involves close collaboration with county health officials, health facilities and community leaders.

Key responsibilities

• Implement Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition (IMAM) and other nutrition approaches, ensuring identification, admission and discharge of malnourished children, pregnant and lactating women.
• Provide technical support to Ministry of Health staff and community health promoters on PD Hearth, BFCI, IMAM Surge and Family MUAC models.
• Monitor programme effectiveness, prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly reports, and support surveys and assessments.
• Ensure integration of gender, child protection, disability and Christian commitment into nutrition interventions.
• Track project expenditures, manage work plans and budgets, and ensure compliance with humanitarian accountability and donor requirements.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of experience in maternal, infant and young child nutrition, CMAM/IMAM‑surge or micronutrient supplementation.
• Good understanding of Ministry of Health systems, nutrition programming models and national policies.
• Experience working in an NGO environment and with community groups and state institutions.
• Strong analytical, planning and reporting skills with high professional ethics.

Required skills

• Computer literacy in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Technical knowledge of nutrition programmes such as IMAM, PD Hearth, BFCI and Family MUAC.
