Purchasing Manager

About the role

Stratostaff East Africa is hiring a full-time Purchasing Manager in the Nairobi area within the FMCG, food and beverage sector. The role covers sourcing, supplier management, inventory planning and cost control for raw materials used in feed manufacturing.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement sourcing strategies for key raw materials and identify and onboard qualified suppliers across local and regional markets
• Track commodity markets to anticipate price movements and supply risks
• Negotiate supplier contracts and service-level agreements, manage supplier relationships and review supplier performance
• Forecast material requirements with production and feed mill teams, maintain optimal stock levels and implement inventory control practices
• Control procurement costs, support feed product pricing through input-cost analysis and monitor spending against procurement budgets
• Ensure compliance with internal procurement policies and external regulations, and keep accurate records of purchase orders, contracts and delivery documents
• Work with finance and audit teams on payments and reporting, and collaborate with production, quality assurance and commercial teams

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Agribusiness or a related field
• Minimum 7 years of experience in procurement, preferably in agribusiness, feed manufacturing or FMCG
• Solid understanding of commodity sourcing and pricing trends
• Experience managing supplier contracts and procurement systems
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• ERP or procurement software
• A relevant professional qualification in procurement (e.g. CIPS) is an added advantage
