Quality Assurance Automation Engineer (Playwright)

About the role

Tana, a Nairobi-based start-up that trains young people in Africa for tech and data roles and places them in full-time remote positions with companies in North America and Europe, is hiring a mid-level Automation QA Engineer. The role sits on the technology team of a global application security company that helps organisations find and fix security vulnerabilities. The position is remote, based in Kenya, with working hours of 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM EAT.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain end-to-end automated tests using Playwright with TypeScript.
• Validate key product features to make sure they work as intended.
• Conduct unit testing to verify the behaviour of individual software components.
• Collaborate with engineering, product and other teams to support product quality.
• Take ownership of assigned testing work and proactively suggest improvements to QA processes and automation.

Required profile

• 2+ years of professional work experience as a QA Engineer.
• Hands-on experience with test automation using Playwright.
• A proactive, self-driven approach with ownership of responsibilities and a willingness to learn.
• Experience using AI in QA or test automation.

Required skills

• Test automation with Playwright.
• Writing automated tests in TypeScript (preferred) or JavaScript.

Selected candidates will be hired by Tana and embedded full-time with the client.
