Quality Control Officer (FMCG)

About the role

Brites Management Services is hiring a full-time Quality Control Officer in Thika for its FMCG business. The officer ensures that products meet quality standards, food safety requirements and regulatory guidelines throughout production, through inspections, monitoring, record keeping and reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect incoming raw materials, ingredients, packaging, work-in-progress and finished products against approved specifications.
• Monitor production processes, carry out routine sampling and testing, and verify compliance with processing parameters and standard operating procedures.
• Document and report quality deviations and defective products, and ensure segregation and corrective action.
• Check compliance with food safety standards, GMP, GHP, HACCP and regulatory requirements, including hygiene and sanitation inspections.
• Investigate defects and process deviations, recommend and follow up on corrective and preventive actions.
• Maintain inspection, sampling, testing and sanitation records, and prepare daily, weekly and monthly quality reports.
• Keep batch records, product specifications, traceability documents and calibration records up to date for audits.
• Work with production, warehouse, procurement and maintenance teams, and take part in quality audits and training.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Food Science, Food Technology or a related field.
• At least 2 years of quality control or quality assurance experience in the FMCG industry; FMCG experience is mandatory.

Required skills

• Knowledge of food hygiene, food safety, quality assurance and food processing procedures.
• Understanding of quality control systems, SOPs and food safety regulations.
• Experience in quality documentation, report preparation and record management.
