Radio Sonographer – Diagnostic Imaging Specialist

About the role

The Radio Sonographer will deliver high‑quality ultrasound imaging services within a busy healthcare facility in Nairobi. You will work closely with radiologists and clinicians to ensure accurate diagnosis while maintaining patient safety and comfort.

Key responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic sonography procedures following established practice parameters and standards of care.
• Process, print and archive quality images to support clinical diagnosis.
• Maintain optimal use of consumables and ensure cost‑effective operations.
• Adhere to radiation safety, infection prevention and equipment maintenance protocols.
• Track equipment usage, downtime and stock levels, reporting to the nursing supervisor.
• Maintain accurate imaging records and comply with legislative regulations.
• Report critical findings promptly to requesting clinicians.
• Collaborate with radiologists on image interpretation and advise on additional imaging when needed.
• Participate in monthly medical camps and other hospital activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Medical Imaging Science, Radiography or a recognized Sonography/Ultrasound program.
• Registered with the relevant regulatory body and holding a valid practicing licence.
• Minimum of 4 years’ experience in sonography or diagnostic imaging within a healthcare setting.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and patient‑care skills.

Required skills

• Health Management Information Systems (HMIS) proficiency.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (preferred).
• Computer applications competency.
