Relationship Officer – Alternative Channels

About the role

Old Mutual is seeking a Relationship Officer for Alternative Channels to drive insurance distribution through SACCOs, MFIs and co‑operatives in Kenya. The role focuses on building and managing partnerships, growing sales, and ensuring product fit for micro‑insurance customers.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, engage and onboard new distribution partners such as SACCOs, MFIs and co‑operatives, presenting tailored insurance solutions to decision‑makers.
• Maintain ongoing relationships with CEOs, managers and board members, acting as the primary liaison between Old Mutual and its partners.
• Collaborate with product teams to design and refine insurance offerings based on market feedback and industry trends.
• Organise training workshops and financial‑literacy campaigns for partner staff and members.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, AML and internal policies, supporting claims processing and risk management.
• Track sales performance, partnership engagement and customer satisfaction, preparing regular reports for senior management.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of insurance industry experience, with at least 3 years in business development and a proven record of meeting sales targets.
• Strong understanding of micro‑insurance, SACCO/MFI operations and financial inclusion strategies.
• Bachelor’s degree in Arts, Commerce/Business Administration or a Diploma in Insurance.
• Entrepreneurial mindset, high emotional intelligence and ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
