Relationship Officer - Bomet Branch

About the role

VisionFund Kenya, a financial services company and key investment of World Vision Kenya, is hiring a Relationship Officer for its Bomet branch. The officer identifies potential clients, assesses their creditworthiness, recommends loan products, supports disbursements, manages collections and provides client training and advice. This is a local fixed-term position.

Key responsibilities

• Recruit and onboard new clients, recommend loan products and achieve targets for new borrowers, repeat borrowers, outstanding loan balance and product uptake.
• Apply the 5Cs of credit, verify documents and prepare loan appraisal reports; monitor repayment schedules and use T24 reports to guide disbursement and collection decisions.
• Manage collections, identify early warning signs of delinquency and help keep the Portfolio at Risk within approved targets.
• Run pre-loan and monthly post-loan training, and attend group meetings and client business visits.
• Monitor the portfolio, escalate credit risks and fraud, and support the Relationship Manager.
• Reconcile client and group records in T24, explain balances and repayment schedules to clients, and comply with KYC, AML/CFT, data protection and client protection standards.

Required profile

• Diploma in Business Administration, Marketing, Sociology or a related field.
• Experience in microfinance, credit, sales, collections or customer relationship management is an added advantage.
• Sound understanding of lending principles, credit assessment and responsible lending.
• Willingness to travel extensively in the field, about 70% of working time, and to ride a motorbike where required, with the appropriate licence.
