Release of Information Specialist – Full‑time (Mon‑Fri 8am‑4:30pm)

About the role

The Release of Information (ROI) Specialist I works within the VitalChart department of VRC to process medical record requests efficiently while safeguarding patient privacy. This full‑time position operates Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, and requires strict adherence to HIPAA and other federal/state regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, validate, and prioritize ROI requests, primarily for Continuing Care and Disability Determination Services.
• Access and retrieve patient records from electronic or physical repositories following client‑specific security protocols.
• Perform quality‑control checks to ensure accurate release of information and prevent PHI breaches.
• Log each request in ROI software, classify request type, and manage invoicing adjustments.
• Reject non‑compliant requests and return physical records to their proper locations.
• Communicate regularly with the ROI Area Manager or Team Leader about quality, connectivity, or client concerns.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight turnaround times.
• Understanding of HIPAA, state privacy statutes, and healthcare documentation standards.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to maintain a positive image of VRC.
• Minimum of one month related experience or equivalent training.
