Resettlement Officer

About the role

HIAS Kenya is looking for a Resettlement Officer to support durable solutions for the most vulnerable refugee populations. The officer will manage the full resettlement cycle, from interviewing applicants to representing clients in Kenyan courts.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct resettlement interviews, assess claims, and apply international legal frameworks in line with HIAS SOPs.
• Prepare and draft Resettlement Referral Forms for specialist review and ensure submission of at least 30 cases per month to relevant embassies.
• Participate in case‑conferencing meetings, provide individual counseling, and keep clients informed via phone, email, or in‑person.
• Represent HIAS resettlement clients in Kenyan courts, offering legal information and guidance throughout the process.
• Maintain accurate case records in the Case Management System and contribute to internal and external reporting.
• Support training initiatives, develop IEC materials, and perform any additional duties to advance program objectives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law and admission as an advocate to the High Court of Kenya.
• Minimum three years of professional experience in refugee protection, resettlement, or related NGO programming.
• Strong knowledge of international refugee law and Kenyan legal procedures.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and advocacy skills.
