School Counsellor & Nurse

About the role

The School Counsellor & Nurse provides holistic wellbeing, counselling, and medical support to students and staff. This dual role blends emotional and mental health assistance with first‑aid, health education, and safeguarding duties, ensuring a safe and thriving school environment.

Key responsibilities

• Offer confidential one‑to‑one counselling for students facing emotional, behavioural, social or academic challenges.
• Provide first aid, emergency care and routine medical support, including assessment of minor illnesses and injuries.
• Administer prescribed medication according to parental and school guidelines.
• Participate in the safeguarding team, recognise signs of harm and report concerns per school policy.
• Maintain accurate, confidential health and counselling records, track chronic conditions and monitor immunisation status.
• Design and deliver wellbeing workshops on mental health, hygiene, nutrition, digital safety and relationships.
• Support teachers and parents with guidance on student emotional and health issues.

Required profile

• Ability to provide confidential counselling and emotional support to students.
• Capability to deliver first‑aid, administer medication and manage minor health issues.
• Understanding of safeguarding procedures and child protection policies.
• Strong record‑keeping skills for health and counselling documentation.
