Senior Accountant – Apparel Manufacturing

About the role

A recruitment agency is recruiting, on behalf of its client, a Senior Accountant for an apparel manufacturing company in Kilifi, Kenya. The company produces high-quality men's and women's garments for international fashion brands and meets strict export standards. The Senior Accountant oversees day-to-day financial operations, working closely with the Finance & Operations Controller.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records in QuickBooks, including transaction coding, journals, accruals, prepayments, depreciation and the fixed asset register.
• Perform bank and mobile money reconciliations, manage petty cash, prepare cash flow updates and flag financial risks or discrepancies.
• Prepare payroll inputs and statutory deductions, ensure timely statutory filings and keep compliance documentation.
• Prepare monthly reconciliations and working papers, and support management accounts, including variance and financial analysis.
• Analyse production costs, reconcile inventory, ensure accurate stock valuation and prepare profitability reports.
• Support audits, maintain audit-ready documentation, strengthen internal controls and help improve processes and systems.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; CPA (K) or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in a manufacturing or production environment, ideally in cost accounting or production finance.
• Good understanding of manufacturing workflows, cost structures and process-oriented environments.
• Proactive, collaborative team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Required skills

• Hands-on experience with ERP systems.
• Strong proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets (pivot tables, advanced formulas).
• Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
