Senior Accountant

About the role

The Church is seeking a Senior Accountant to manage and safeguard its financial resources. This entry‑level professional accounting position involves maintaining an accurate general ledger, preparing financial reports, and supporting the Church’s mission through sound financial stewardship.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and update the general ledger to ensure accurate financial statements.
• Reconcile accounts, review reconciliations, and clear outstanding items.
• Prepare journal entries, adjustments, and special financial studies as required.
• Analyze budget requests, explain variances, and monitor expenditures against budget.
• Consolidate accounting information for statements and summaries.
• Review high‑value invoices, audit project accounts for policy compliance, and draft correspondence on discrepancies.
• Assist in preparing financial estimates, expense reports, and support junior accounting staff.

Required profile

• Current temple recommend holder.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business management.
• Professional qualification such as CPA(K), ACCA, CISA, or similar.
• 4–6 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and the accountant code of conduct.

Required skills

• Proficiency in general ledger maintenance.
• Experience with account reconciliation and journal entry preparation.
• Ability to analyze budgets and financial statements.
• Familiarity with internal control design and compliance auditing.
