Senior Accountant

About the role

Kaziweza Limited is seeking a Senior Accountant to lead its finance function in Nairobi. The role will shape financial strategy, ensure accurate reporting, and support the company’s growth in the advertising and media sector.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the company’s financial strategy in line with business objectives.
• Oversee all accounting and financial operations, ensuring timely preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual statements.
• Lead the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts and cash‑flow projections.
• Monitor departmental budgets, control expenditures and provide profitability analysis.
• Manage treasury activities, banking relationships and company investments.
• Authorize payments, settle supplier invoices and ensure statutory obligations are met.
• Present management accounts, analyse variances and deliver insights for strategic decisions.
• Maintain robust internal controls, identify financial risks and implement mitigation measures.
• Ensure compliance with Kenyan tax laws, prepare statutory returns and coordinate external audits.
• Oversee payroll processing, statutory deductions and employee benefits.
• Lead, mentor and evaluate the finance team, fostering professional development.

Required profile

• Mid‑level qualification with at least 5 years of relevant accounting or finance experience.
• Proven ability to manage full accounting cycles and lead finance teams.
• Strong knowledge of Kenyan tax regulations and statutory compliance.
