Senior Accountant

About the role

The Senior Accountant will lead financial accounting, reporting and audit activities for our Nairobi office, supporting both local and international operations. You will ensure accurate month‑end and year‑end closes, compliance with standards and drive process improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain general ledger, prepare and analyse monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and management reports.
• Lead internal and external audit coordination, ensure compliance with SOX, COSO and other regulatory frameworks.
• Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts and financial plans, providing variance analysis and actionable insights.
• Perform complex reconciliations across bank, AR, AP, payroll, inter‑company and balance‑sheet accounts.
• Support international and U.S. accounting requirements, applying US GAAP and IFRS where needed.
• Identify process improvement opportunities, strengthen internal controls and mentor junior accounting staff.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• 4–5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a senior role.
• Professional certification such as CPA or ACCA strongly preferred.
• Experience with audit coordination, internal controls and risk assessment.
• Exposure to international clients or U.S. market accounting.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency with accounting or ERP systems.
