Senior Accountant

About the role

Ubuntu Impact is recruiting a Senior Accountant on behalf of a leading FMCG / Food & Beverage distribution client based in Nairobi, Kenya. The role is full-time and involves monitoring branch financial performance to drive EBITDA and gross margin targets, optimizing the cash conversion cycle, maintaining inventory controls and ensuring compliance with KRA iTax and eTIMS obligations. Key responsibilities

• Analyze branch income and expenditure, track gross margin variances against targets, investigate sales/COGS/discount anomalies and recommend profitability measures
• Monitor stock movement, aging and slow-moving inventory, reconcile physical stock with system and financial accounts with the warehouse team, and track receivables and payables to improve the cash conversion cycle
• Track budget utilization against allocations, identify unnecessary expenses, document cost-saving initiatives and support financial reviews
• Submit daily, weekly and monthly branch financial reports and perform regular bank, cash, sales, inventory and general ledger reconciliations
• Ensure compliance with KRA statutory obligations (VAT, PAYE, withholding tax) and eTIMS electronic invoicing rules, and support internal and external audits

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field
• At least 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in FMCG, retail, distribution, branch-based trading or manufacturing
• CPA (K), ACCA or equivalent professional qualification is an added advantage

Required skills

• Hands-on experience with ERP/accounting software
• Advanced Microsoft Excel
• Practical knowledge of KRA iTax and eTIMS filing systems
• Strong financial analysis, inventory control and internal control awareness
