Senior Accountant - Logistics

About the role

A leading importer and logistics solutions provider with a strong national footprint is looking for a Senior Accountant to lead accounting operations and safeguard the integrity of financial management across all business functions. The role covers financial reporting, compliance and control, and acts as a key advisor to management on cost efficiency, financial planning and process optimization.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in line with IFRS and internal policies.
• Lead month-end and year-end closing, ensuring all reconciliations are accurate and complete.
• Manage statutory and tax compliance, including VAT, PAYE, NSSF, NHIF and withholding tax returns.
• Coordinate and support internal and external audits.
• Develop and monitor annual budgets, forecasts and financial performance analyses.
• Maintain and improve internal financial controls and conduct variance and trend analyses to spot cost-saving opportunities and risks.
• Supervise, mentor and evaluate accounting staff, and collaborate with department heads and senior management on strategic planning.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• CPA (K) or equivalent professional qualification (ACCA or similar) required.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience in logistics, import/export, FMCG or manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, financial reporting and local tax compliance.
• Excellent analytical, organizational and problem-solving abilities, with strong communication and leadership skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP preferred)
• Advanced Excel skills
