Senior Backend Developer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Backend Developer to join a globally distributed engineering team focused on digital finance and blockchain technologies. The role involves designing, building, and maintaining high‑performance backend services that power financial platforms used worldwide. You will work remotely in a fast‑paced, Agile environment, collaborating with product, design and other engineering teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable backend services and APIs for financial platforms.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.
• Improve and optimise existing Node.js services for reliability, performance and scalability.
• Implement new integrations with distributed services and micro‑service architectures using RPC calls.
• Write and optimise complex queries for relational (MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB) databases.
• Drive platform scalability initiatives to ensure real‑time responsiveness under growing demand.
• Apply security best practices to protect infrastructure, transactions and user data.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, code reviews, troubleshooting and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience developing backend solutions with JavaScript and Node.js.
• Strong understanding of microservices, distributed systems and high‑availability architectures.
• Proven experience building large‑scale platforms or applications.
• Solid knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases, especially MySQL and MongoDB.
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies and adapt to evolving engineering practices.
• Deep awareness of backend security concepts and secure API development.
