Senior Backend Engineer – Asset Sales

About the role

M-KOPA is looking for a senior backend engineer to join its Asset Sales group and help scale a core part of its FinTech platform. You will design, build, and operate distributed C#/.NET microservices on Azure, working in an event‑driven architecture that serves millions of users across Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain high‑performance C#/.NET microservices hosted on Azure Kubernetes Service.
• Own the full lifecycle of services—from concept, implementation, deployment, to production monitoring and iteration.
• Implement observability using Grafana, Azure Application Insights, and logging/tracing tools.
• Participate in on‑call rotations, using incidents to improve system resilience.

Required profile

• Senior‑level engineer who is curious, autonomous, and trusted to deliver end‑to‑end solutions.
• Comfortable with production ownership and measuring success through real‑world data.
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively in distributed, multi‑time‑zone teams.

Required skills

• C# and .NET development.
• Event‑driven systems (Azure Service Bus, Kafka, RabbitMQ).
• Microservices architecture on Azure and Kubernetes.
• Observability tooling such as Grafana and Azure Application Insights.
• Use of AI tools (e.g., Claude) for design, code generation, testing, and incident analysis.
• DevOps mindset with on‑call and production ownership experience.
