Senior Data & Risk Manager (Consultant)

About the role

Pezesha, a digital credit provider and financing platform serving underserved SMEs in Kenya and Uganda, is hiring a full-time Senior Data & Risk Manager (Consultant) to evaluate credit portfolio performance, strengthen risk management and drive automation and analytics. This is a 12-month consulting contract with potential for renewal.

Key responsibilities

• Develop credit risk frameworks, underwriting standards and mentor credit officers on risk assessment and decisioning
• Build and scale AI-driven credit and collections models with the data science team, and maintain model monitoring and validation
• Update the data and AI strategy, governance, architecture and data quality, while keeping regulatory compliance and ethical AI use
• Refine ECL and portfolio forecasting, collections scorecards and recovery analytics, and deliver dashboards and insights
• Work with Finance, Credit Operations and Product teams, and support investor relations and stakeholder presentations
• Mentor internal teams on data science, analytics and automation, and automate credit and collections workflows

Required profile

• Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Finance or a related field
• At least 6 years of experience in data science, analytics or credit risk management, preferably in fintech, financial services or banking
• Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring data teams

Required skills

• Python, R and SQL
• Data visualization tools such as Power BI and Tableau
• AI, machine learning and predictive modeling for credit risk and fraud detection
