Senior Data Scientist (Contract)

About the role

We are seeking a senior Data Scientist to join a joint Visa‑client tech squad in Nairobi. The role focuses on building and operationalising data‑driven models, segmentation frameworks and measurement tools that power digital payment acquisition, activation and usage campaigns.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement a PAN extraction and pseudonymisation approach that complies with PCI‑DSS and data‑privacy regulations.
• Design, validate and deploy propensity models to identify high‑potential customers for Visa card adoption, Visa Direct usage and tokenisation.
• Build customer segmentation frameworks that combine transactional, behavioural and demographic signals.
• Develop and maintain a digital lift measurement framework, including control/treatment group methodology and statistical significance thresholds.
• Create analytics dashboards and reporting packs that deliver clear, actionable insights to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Backend Engineers to design and validate reliable data pipelines feeding analytical models.
• Partner with marketing and product teams to translate analytical outputs into actionable campaign targeting and measurement.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience (4‑7+ years) in data science, machine learning and statistical analysis.
• Proven track record delivering propensity models, customer segmentation and measurement frameworks.
• Strong understanding of data governance, PCI‑DSS and privacy regulations.
• Experience working in agile squads and collaborating with engineering, product and marketing teams.
