Senior Data Scientist, Product

About the role

Ajua is a Silicon Valley‑backed start‑up and Africa’s first Integrated Customer Experience company. The Data Science team ensures Ajua’s products are best‑in‑class by understanding customers better than ever. We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist to build, deploy and monitor analytics and machine learning capabilities within our product suite while maintaining scientific rigor.

Key responsibilities

• Translate business objectives into clear data‑science problems and design experiments.
• Extract, clean, and transform data for analysis, modelling and reporting.
• Implement and deploy state‑of‑the‑art analytics and machine‑learning models across the Ajua product stack.
• Collaborate with product, engineering and customer‑success teams to turn feature requirements into data‑driven decisions.
• Continuously improve data‑science skills, stay ahead of emerging customer and data challenges, and contribute to internal reviews and community meet‑ups.

Required profile

• 3+ years of industry or academic experience in data science and machine learning.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or Engineering.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work across seniority levels.
• Proven track record of publishing patents or peer‑reviewed research is a plus.

Required skills

• Python (numpy, scipy, spacy, etc.)
• SQL
• R (basic understanding)
• Deep‑learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch
• Natural Language Processing (NLP) experience
